Killington
Skyeship Gondolas
Killington Ski Resort updated its aging gondola fleet in 1993, replacing it with the state-of-the-art Quad lift produced by the Swiss gondola company, CWA Constructions. Recognizing this as an opportunity to make a significant visual statement, the owners of Killington Ski Resort decided to create a dynamic  "art gallery in the sky," turning each of the gondolas into a unique piece of art. I (along with artists Russell Jacques, George Snyder, Rolf Knie, Raymond Yu, and Yankel Ginzburg) was commissioned to create the 45 dynamic designs that adorn the 139 cabins of the Skyeship fleet. Several of the Skyeship designs were unveiled at a special ceremony and exhibit at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. Here is a selection of some of the designs I created for this project.
